Things to Know
O’Hare International Airport has plenty of flight options. However, you may consider Midway International Airport, a smaller airport located on the city’s southwest side with less frequent delays.
Save at major attractions — like Shedd Aquarium, the Field Museum, John Hancock Center Observatory, Adler Planetarium and the Art Institute of Chicago — with the Chicago CityPASS.
If you want to skip the lines at the Willis Tower, purchase a Fast Pass ticket online — because time is money, especially on vacation!
When to Go
Chicago’s weather can be unpredictable, but June, September and October are best for enjoyable temps and sunshine. July and August can be very hot, whereas November through March can be bitter cold.
Dig into deep-dish pizza, munch on Italian beef sandwiches and load the toppings onto Chicago hot dogs. If you want to eat like a local, never squirt ketchup on a dog!
Shop on Michigan Avenue (“the Magnificent Mile”) for upscale stores. Try Wicker Park and Bucktown for boutiques and antique furniture shops. Roscoe Village offers children’s boutiques and home decor.
Seasonal Lake Access
On Lake Michigan, enjoy sand and skyscrapers at Oak Street Beach in the summer, or let the kids watch ducks waddle on the ice during winter.
