Things to Know
Tahoe is home to the largest concentration of skiing facilities in North America. The ski season (October through April) is busy, but the slopes are absolutely worth it.
Lake Tahoe sits at an elevation of 6,224 feet above sea level. Even if you’re a gym rat, you can get dizzy hiking, biking or skiing at this height. Pace yourself, and carry extra water.
Sync your travel dates with your interests. Skiing is great October through April. The weather and hiking trails are best July through September. To avoid crowds, plan your visit for May or June.
